I am getting quite a few questions about my involvement with Les BBQ, so I wanted to explain and break that down...
First, I do brand consulting, under mine and my partner Xavier Jackson's firm, Coinlete.
We partner with brands in various industries to help bring growth to their brand and revenue through different models.
For Les, Xavier started working with him when he was selling frozen BBQ by the LBS out of his backyard in Tooele, Utah.
Xavier and him created a great friendship and X started working inside the brand.
He then brought me in after they negotiated a 20% equity deal for us to help with various things...
When I met Les, we sat down at his counter and I asked, "What can I do to help your brand grow?" to which he responded...
"Get me out of my house, get my online sales growing, and get me making money off YouTube."
Which, we were able to do through various ways... At the time, Les had just gotten famous online, made a decent amount of money, but his sales were quickly declining and he needed to find ways to capture the moment.
-- YouTube Revenue + Growth: We tackled the initial challenge of multiple failed YouTube monetization attempts, correcting the application process and finally succeeding in setting up a profitable revenue stream.
-- Website Revamp: I personally oversaw the complete overhaul of his outdated website, introducing modern e-commerce strategies that significantly boosted his online meat sales. This is what was the defining factor in getting sales heading in the right direction.
-- New Revenue Strategies: Xavier headed sourcing out new revenue sources like implementing different entertainment streams most notably, the "Smoke Tour" which is the highest revenue line for the company.
-- Securing Investors and Partnerships: We introduced Les to key investors and strategic partners. This includes not just financial backers but also critical operational partners like industry titans who provided space in a commercial kitchen and advice as Les grows the brand.
-- Professional Services: Leveraging our network, we brought on board specialists like Casey Wright for videography and Jennifer, our trusted accountant, to fortify Les's operational framework.
-- Draper Location: I specifically worked hard for this location because I wanted one next to a waterpark, with drive-thru, that had limited seating. I wanted to prove a personal concept I thought of—a fast-service model, no seating, drive-thru and walk-in only, similar to some coffee and drink mini-shops—so a former cookie location was perfect.
Having invested in 30 restaurants that all have failed or are about to fail, I wanted to work within the food industry to prove that it wasn't that hard and that I could be successful in it.
